CATHODE-RAY TUBE INSTRUMENT SYNTHESIS SYSTEM.

Abstract

A design study was conducted leading to development of a flexible laboratory design tool for synthesizing and analyzing cockpit displays. The resulting cathode-ray tube instrument synthesis system (CRT-ISS) is compatible with standard analog computer systems and has a selfcontained provision for generation of 50 alphanumeric and geometirc symbols, each of which can be displayed by any or all of the 64 timeshared display channels. In addition, the size, static verti-al and horizontal positioning, and intensity of each symbol displayed can be independently controlled for each of the 64 channels. The preprogramming of the display is accomplished by patch cord plugging and adjustment of potentiometers. The output of the system consists of X-, Y-, and Z-axes signals which permit driving conventional cathode-ray tube oscilloscopes singly, in multiples, or in various combinations. An additional task of the design study was the development of a 21-inch solid-state display oscilloscope. (Author)
