THE APPLICATION OF ULTRASONICS TO WIRE DRAWING.

Abstract

Several tests were made to evaluate the effect of ultrasonic energy on the removal of residual stresses. In the frequency range of 10-20 kc and at low power levels some minor effects were found; however, these were extremely small and nonreproducible. Additional experiments were conducted on wire specimens to clarify some of the design problems encountered during wire drawing operations. (Author)
