MECHANICAL BEHAVIOUR OF TWISTED YARNS

Abstract

The second fatigue tester, described fully in the Annual report of October 1961-October 1962 has been used after minor modifications to provide information on the fatigue behavior of four tex tile materials at six ranges of twist and three stroke levels. Analysis of the results has been split into three sections which deal respectively with optical appearance of fractured specimens, the statistical nature of fatigue breakage, and the possibility of predicting fatigue failure by means of the known elastic recovery properties of the materal.
