RELOCATION OF PHOTOGRAPHIC EXPOSURE METER IN RF-8A AIRCRAFT COCKPIT.

Abstract

The relocation is reported of the photographic exposure meter in the RF-8A aircraft cockpit from the left hand console to the pilot's instrument panel. The relocation of the exposure meter was proposed to permit the pilot to keep the exposure meter in view during low altitude runs. The installation was accomplished by removing the galvanometer from the control unit located in the lower left hand console of the cockpit and mounting the galvanometer to a specially designed bracket which was installed in the relocated position to the right of the viewfinder on the top edge of the instrument panel. A new two wire cable from the control unit to the relocated galvanometer position was installed by following the existing cable run, located in the left console leading up to the back of the instrument panel. The installation procedure and component details are shown in enclosures. The installation was made in the RF-8A aircraft, BuNo. 145628, which has been found to function satisfactorily in airborne tests. (Author)
