RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN TROPICAL PRECIPITATION AND KINEMATIC CLOUD MODELS.

Abstract

The continuity equations for water substance used in these studies are reviewed. A term which accounts for evaporation of precipitation is derived; the evaporation rate of a MarshallPalmer drop distribution is about proportinal to the product of the saturation deficit with the two-thirds power of the precipitation water content. Example vertical profiles of precipitation and cloud as they develop in a model situation which includes evaporation are illustrated. Possible responses of cloudiness and precipitation to modification of the microphysical parameter
