EDUCATIONAL DATA PROCESSING AND PUBLIC EDUCATION,

Abstract

Four main currents of change in American Education are listed as: (1) new concepts of learning applied to the techniques of instruction; (2) new curricula; (3) new instructional and administrative support systems technology; and (4) changes in school facilities to support these educational innovations. The electronic accounting machines and the digital computer will give primary support to this movement toward change. The following are discussed: (1) multiple uses of the educational data processing system; (2) systematic development of new educational programs; (3) trends in research and development programs for applying computer technology to educational problems; and (4) future computer hardware and cost trends.
