SURFACE EFFECTS OF ELECTROLYTIC MACHINING.

Abstract

Five materials, L-605, 6 Al-4V Titanium, A-286 Inconel X and 4340 Steel were machined by electrochemical hole sinking and electrolytic grinding (Anocut) processes. The surface effects of these processes were examined metallographically. The ECHS process appeared to be satisfactory for L-605 and 4340 Steel only. The Anocut process appeared to be satisfactory with all the materiials. Microphotographs illustrate the surface condition produced by each method on each material. (Author)
