DETERMINATION OF EFFECT ON WHEEL EXPULSION ON AMS 4901 (COMMERCIALLY PURE) TITANIUM,

Abstract

Thr5e welded panels of AMS 4901 Titanium, were each sectioned into three specimens, one tensile, one fatigue and one specimen for photomacrograph. The censile specimens were tested in the 5000 lb universal test machine using a strain rate of .003 in./in./min. The fatigue specimens were loaded axially in tension with a maximum stress of 60,000 psi and a minimum stress of 3000 psi. The maximum and minimum test machine loads were calculated based on the minimum cross sectional area of the .01 sheet. (Author)
