PRODUCTION ENGINEERING MEASURE TO INVESTIGATE PROPERTIES OF INDIUM ANTIMONIDE AND TO PROVIDE 801-C6 INFRARED DETECTORS.

Abstract

Improved material, fabrication process, and definition of small active areas resulted in increased performance from photoconductive indium antimonide. Engineering samples delivered during this quarter had responsivities greater than 15,000 olts/watt. Surface passivation studies revealed a method for oxidizing the material without detrimental effects on quantum efficiency, thereby achi ving lower noise levels and increased stability. Dependence of noise on field strength was plotted, and a band of typical noise levels is revealed. Environmental testing facilities were set up to accomplish the requirements of temperature, humidity and pressure. (Author)
