THE FALLOUT PROTECTION BOOKLET: IV. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF READERS, AND AN ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF THE BOOKLET,
Abstract
In summary, then, we can estimate that something less than 13% of the total adult urban population had noticed the booklet, and that something less than 7% had read the booklet thoroughly. Those who read it were those who already were most informed about and favorable toward civil defense, were those who believed that such knowledge would be of help to them, and were those who were in the best position to use the information contained in the booklet. Unfortunately, however, reading the booklet did not seem to be of much help in increasing the level of understanding about or opinions toward the general area of nuclear attack and civil defense.
