EXPERIMENTS ON A PARTIAL ARC SELF-ACTING GAS JOURNAL BEARING,

Abstract

Operational characteristics of a rotor when supported on self-acting, gas-lubricated journal bearings are reported. Experimental results for the evaluation of several parametric changes are noted. Some of these parameters included in the investigation are (1) elevated ambient pressure up to 500 psig, (2) clearance ratio, (3) length to diameter ratio, (4) bearing load, and (5) bearing orientation.
