EVALUATION OF FINE PARTICLE BATIO3 PREPARED FROM ALCOHOLATE SOLUTIONS,

Abstract

Barium titanate of ultra-fine particle size has been successfully prepared by combustion of atomized alcoholate solutions containing barium and titanium compounds. Some electrical properties of hot-pressed bodies prepared from this material are reported, together with the results of x-ray, chemical, and electron microscope investigations. It has been determined that the process used is capable of yielding a material whose average particle size is less then 250 angstroms. Considerable grain growth, however, invariably occurs within this material during hot pressing. (Author)
