ORAL GLUCOSE TOLERANCE RESPONSES IN HEALTHY YOUNG ADULT MALES CLASSIFIED AS TO CARIES EXPERIENCE AND PERIODONTAL STATUS,

Abstract

Oral glucose tolerance tests were performed for 300 systemically healthy male subjects beetween 17 and 22 years of age. Subjects were classified as to caries experience and periodontal status. All serum samples, a total of 1,500, were analyzed for glucose by two chemical methods. The results of an automatic ferricyanide procedure were compared to those from an enzymatic procedure with a specificity for glucose. There was no indication that either caries experience or periodontal status was in any way related to glucose tolerance results for these subjects. (Author)
