FULLY PLASTIC RESPONSE TO BLAST LOADS,

Abstract

This paper presents the computed deflections of a single-degree-of-freedom system under blast loads generated by triple exponential decaying pulse as given by Brode. The resistance of the system is constant in both deflection and time. The analysis was performed by the author to provide a suitable working tool in the design of structures investigated under contract with the Air Force Ballistic Systems Division. the maximum deflections of the system are plotted as a function of the ratio of peak load to fully plastic resistance and the results appear to have general application for research and design.
