MISSILE SHOCK MOUNT SYSTEM WITH SELF-CENTERING PROPERTIES,

Abstract

A linear-elastic, self-centering shock mount system is presented for protecting a missile from the effects of ground motion at 300 psi from a 20 MT weapon burst. The application of the basic mechanical principle is independent of missile configuration or weapon effects, but the design developed in this paper is proportioned for a missile and silo geometry representative of the Minuteman. The weapon effects criteria used for design are the ground motion spectra typical of an alluvian deposit over a rock substratum. (Author)
