SATELLITE CONTROL FACILITY ACQUISITION AND LOST VEHICLE RECOVERY ANALYSIS STUDY,
Abstract
The capabilities and limitations of the wide beam VHF antennas of the Satellite Control Facility (SCF), when used as lost vehicle acquisition aids, have been assessed in this study; their relative abilities have also been compared. The study shows that the RF beamwidth and servo drive characteristics are adequate but the controls are not suited for long duration, wide angle searches. Antenna gain limits the usable range of the tri-helix and quad-helix antennas for lost vehicle acquisition. (Author)
