DESIGN REPORT OF A VERTICAL TAPE ENGINE PERFORMANCE INDICATOR MODIFIED FOR USE IN THE A2F SIMULATOR,

Abstract

Presented is the development of an integrated displays for A2F aircraft. The purpose of the equipment is to display percent R.P.M., exhaust gas temperature, and oil pressure or fuel flow for a two jet-engine aircraft when provided with input signals from a tachometer generator, a chromelalumel thermocouple, and a synchro transmitter. Encoders furnish a digital output of the indicated parameters. Also, the percent R.P.M. scale tape may be positioned remotely by means of a synchro transmitter. The indicated parameters are displayed in the form of vertical tapes. The tape mechanism is comprised of one scale tape and two pointer tapes. The pointer tapes travel vertically on each side of the scale tape and are positioned by the input parameters. The scale tapes may be positioned by hand set knobs located on thf front panel, or in the case of of the percent R.P.M. remotely with a synchro transmitter. (Author)
