IMPROVED MEASUREMENT TECHNIQUES FOR SPECTRAL POWER OUTPUT DATA.
Abstract
This report describes a study program to determine methods for designing a receiver to provide capabilities for spectrum signature, field surveillance and field intensity and for other measurements requiring broad band coverage in the frequency range 100 kc to 40 gc. Major emphasis: (1) solid state throughout; (2) voltage-tunable rather than mechanically tunable; and (3) automated measurements. Receiver techniques for 100 kc to 250 mc range were demonstrated by two 8-16 mc breadboard receivers, one incrementalinductance tuned, one voltage-variable capacitance tuned. A solid-state, 2-4 gc, voltagetunable breadboard received demonstrated techniques typical of the 250 mc to 40.0 gc range. (Author)
