DEVELOPMENT OF NONFLAMMABLE HYDRAULIC FLUIDS AND LUBRICANTS.

Abstract

A number of trimeric and tetrameric mixed substituted (aryl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl) phosphonitrilates (III) were prepared and evaluated. Considerable improvements over the corresponding mixed substituted (aryl-1,1,-omega-tri-Hpolyfluoroalkyl) phosphonitrilates were achieved. Thus, both viscosities and densities were favorably lower and, in some cases, higher spontaneous ignition temperatures were observed. Some products may be somewhat marginal with regard to volatility and ASTM slope. (Author)
