Empirical Methods for Calculation of Bond Energies. Part 2

Abstract

The attempted computation of bond energies using the Mulliken magic formula was expanded in several directions. Workable approximations to the Y sub kc term were made. The dependence of electronegativity on valence state was worked out in great detail. In the process a new and expanded definition of electronegativity was proposed and tried out in the interpretation of out in the interpretation of nuclear quadruple resonance spectra of a series of halogen compounds.
