THEORETICAL SOLUTION AND COMPUTER DETERMINATION OF HEAT DISTRIBUTIONS IN A SLAB OF FINITE THICKNESS,

Abstract

The theroretical and computational aspects were studied of a class of heat distribution problems generally applicable to reentry radiative heating, and radiative cooling. Analytical models using the Laplace transform technique were created for three of the five problems selected; numerical calculus solutions were derived for the other two. These theoretical solutions were then programmed in CODAP and FORTRAN for numerical solution on the CDC 1604 digital computer. This report includes complete descriptions of all mathematical techniques. Numerical results of sample cases are summarized in convenient form. (Author)
