FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF A DUCTILE TUNGSTEN-BASE SHEET ALLOY.

Abstract

Two groups of ternary alloys were prepared and evaluated. From work with the first group of materials, certain difficulties associated with sintering and fabrication were defined. Work with the second group of alloys resolved some of the prior problems and was also successful in showing significant property advantages for the W-(3 and 5)Re-2ThO2 alloys prepared from commercially doped Type 218 powder. From this work the W-5Re-ThO2 class of alloys was selected for further study. (Author)
