ANTENNA FLIGHT SIMULATOR.

Abstract

The development of an antenna flight simulator, a system which will atuomatically plot the expected field strength of a missile antenna system throughout flight is presented. The antenna flight simulator consists of servo systems which receive the antenna look angle, round angle and slant range information in a form directly from a computer and direct a model positioning system to orient the scale model of the missile containing model antennas, in the same relative position with respect to the pattern range equipment as the full scale missile would have with respect to the ground station during flight. The antenna flight simulator also consists of a positioning tower and recording equipment. The system advantages are that the chances for human error are reduced to a minimum, and the time required for making antenna measurements is greatly reduced. (Author)
