TIGHTER TOLERANCE CRYSTAL UNITS.

Abstract

Control and impedance characteristics associated with the use of series reactance for frequency adjustment and compensation are investigated and design relations are established. Methods of achieving temperature-variable reactance using thermistors in conjunction with fixed inductors or capacitors are examined and reactancetemperature curves are determined. Crystal design and fabrication has been initiated. Operation of the compensated crystal unit in an oscillator is 1nalyzed and shown to pose special problems, both from the standpoint of testing and in the final application. (Author)
