UNICOM UNIVERSAL INTEGRATED COMMUNICATION SYSTEM.

Abstract

The system conrol arrangements for the UNICOM Test Model are reviewed. An analysis of the comparative advantages of hierarchical and non-hierarchical networks was completed. The methods of operations for the traffic and supervisory consoles and offline data processing procedures for reduction of traffic statistics, for preparation of automatic message accounting data, and for program updating were also completed. The method of handling calls was updated and implementation plans for the remaining service features included. Heading translation requirements for demonstrating the ability to process store and forward messages with ACP 127(c) headings were prescribed. Requirements for the operation of high speed message store and forward ports on a simplexduplex basis were specified. A study of the transmission of digital signals over the analog network was completed. TKRANSMISSION CONSIDERATIONS WHEN INTERCONNECTING UNICOM subscribers with subscribers of other systems were reviewed. Maintenance of UNICOM facilities, the effect of aircraft interference on the transmission of digital signals over troposheric-scatter radio, and conference arrangements for vocoded voice signals were studied.
