SERVICE LIFE ANALYSIS OF ATLAS MA-2 VERNIER ENGINE S/N 332167.

Abstract

The results are presented of a soft goods evaluation from Atlas MA-2 vernier engine S/N 332167 which experienced a random failure in the field. The O-rings appeared to be in satisfactory condition except two of the six rings on the gimbal arm. The cause of damage of these two abraded O-rings cannot be definitely assigned, but it might be O-ring extrusion between the shaft and bushing, which later result in hydraulic leakage of the gimbal body.
