RESEARCH ON LOW NOISE CATHODE DEVELOPMENT.

Abstract

An investigation is reported whose purpose is to achieve thermionic or non-thermionic emission with low noise temperature. A vehicle for measuring the effective noise temperature of cathodes is virtually completed; also research done on a theoretical treatment of velocity and density distribution of a simple model of a low noise gun; and experiments are made, using freeze drying as a method for fabricating uniformly dispersed thermionic cathode surfaces.
