RESEARCH ON LOW NOISE CATHODE DEVELOPMENT.

Abstract

An investigation is being made to achieve thermionic or non-thermionic emission with low noise temperature. A vehicle for measuring the effective noise temperature of cathodes has been designed and partially constructed. A theoretical treatment of velocity distribution for a ring cathode has been initiated. Some experiments have been made using freeze drying as a method for fabricating uniformly dispersed thermionic cathode surfaces. (Author)
