AN ANALYTICAL DETERMINATION OF THE RADAR CROSS SECTION OF CERTAIN MISSILE-LIKE CONFIGURATIONS

Abstract

This report is concerned with the description of the assumptions, methods, and equations used by the Advanced Systems Laboratory, USAMICOM, in the analytical determination of the radar cross section of various missile configurations. The method used is primarily that of physical optics. Examples, using the physical optics integral, are included. Two methods of computing the cross section are given: (1) phase addition - giving a complex pattern and, (2) random addition - giving an effective pattern. (Author)
