INVESTIGATION OF SWIVEL JOINTS FOR USE WITH FUEL OIL BURNER LEADS.

Abstract

Barco aircraft type swivel joint assemblies were tested to determine the suitability of these devices for providing flexibility in fuel oil burner lead piping. The sizes tested were 1/2 and 3/4 in. Test results indicate that adequate flexibility is obtained by use of the joints, however, high pressure drops and problems of construction and bulk make these joints unsuitable for the intended service.
