A LONG-RANGE EDUCATIONAL ANALYSIS AND PLANNING PROGRAM FOR AMERICAN EDUCATION,

Abstract

This report outlines a suggested program of longrange educational analysis and planning for American public education during the 1965-1985 time period. It suggests that systems analysis techniques be applied to education for long-range planning purposes. Describes the use of such techniques as a means of assessing the value of alternative methods of meeting quantitative demands and the need for quality improvements in education, as well as a set of priorities for implementation during the next decades. Systematizes a method whereby new educational media could be evaluated with sufficient validity to be useful for top-level decision makers in education and government at the local, state and federal levels. Lists objectives and possible outcomes from the systems analysis studies. Concludes that results obtained from the suggested educational analysis and planning program would provide data which are presently unavailable. (Author)
