RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ON ADVANCED GRAPHITE MATERIALS. VOLUME 41: SURVEY AND ANALYTICAL REPRESENTATION OF THE MEASUREMENTS OF THE SPECIFIC HEAT OF GRAPHITE

Abstract

A literature survey was made of the experimental values of the specific heat of graphite. Most of the measurements from 20 K to 3800 K were reanalyzed and a new average curve is given for each experimental run. Some of the new curves are significantly different from the original curves. Estimates are given of the Cp-Cv term, the electronic specific heat, and the specific heat of the lattice vibrations. The lattice specific heat was approximated by various combinations of Einstein and one-and two-dimensional Debye functions. The characteristic temperatures were selected by a least-squares curve-fitting procedure.
