STUDY OF HELICOPTER GEAR LUBRICATION.

Abstract

A study is made of helicopter gear lubrication. A study of the types of failure that have occurred in helicopter transmissions in the field is made and an attempt to learn the causes of such failures on a theoretical and experimental basis. The over-all objectives of the work, however, are not limited to solutions of gear lubrication problems of existing helicopter transmissions, but also aim at developing information useful to future transmission designs and, in part, applicable to other gear systems.
