A STUDY OF HIGH-PRECISION GEOCENTRIC AND INTERPLANETARY ORBITS

Abstract

The purpose of this contract is research into the theory and application of astrodynamics in the fields of high-precision geocentric and interplanetary orbits. Developing along these parallel lines, the undertaking has continually widened and deepened in scope since its inception, to include such practical matters as the improvement of the numerical values of the astrodynamic constants, the computational advantages of various perturbation techniues, and use of universal variables, as well as theoretical development along the lines of optimization, rendezvous in space, and the adjoint method in differential orbit improvement. These are considered in the report.
