INVESTIGATIONS LEADING TO THE DESIGN OF A RELIABLE SEALED NICKEL-CADMIUM CELL.

Abstract

Data accumulated in studies made of the several factors in design experiments and the response information obtained in the following have been analyzed: A Self-Discharge Experiment (ThreeMonth Storage); A Charge Acceptance Experiment; A Limited Overcharge Experiment. The design experiment was delineated and the response data were detailed for the factors: (A) electrolyte concentration, (B) additives, (C) type of sintered plaque, (D) type of separation, (E) type of negative plate, (F) type of cell. These design factors were carried forward at the several levels previously reported (Quarterly Progress Report No. 1, Report No. 5 Contract No. DA-36-039-AMC-00135 (E). The results of the analysis of the responses of the cells studied in the above experiments have been recorded and the influences of the various parameters have been shown. (Author)
