A METHOD FOR PREDICTING SLAMMING FORCES ON AND RESPONSE OF A SHIP HULL

Abstract

This report describes a method for obtaining digital computer solutions for the excitation forces on and transient response of a ship subject to (hydrodynamic) slam when certain basic data are obtained by computation rather than by measurement. The method is based on a theory shown in TMB Report 1511 to be in good agreement with experiment for a particular application.
