STUDY OF PILOT-CONTROLLER INTEGRATION FOR EMERGENCY CONDITIONS,

Abstract

The objective of this program was to develop a design concept which will minimize catastropic flight control failures through appropriate pilotcontroller integration. This report describes a systematic procedure composed of techniques within the field of flight control design, reliability, and human factors which yields a practical approach for effective design of an integrated pilot-controller system. Application of the procedure was made to an advanced vehicle mission phase as an aid to the study group in determining practicality of the approach. Areas where further advances of the study are limited by the stateof-the-art are pointed out as recommendations for future investigation. (Author)
