RESEARCH ON COMPACTION CONTROL TESTING FOR GRAVELLY SOILS EARTH RESEARCH PROGRAM,

Abstract

Compaction characteristics were made of soils containing gravel in amounts varying from 0 to 50 percent by weight of the total material. The purpose was to obtain data for studying the compaction characteristics of gravelly soils. Three methods are given for calculating the density of the fine fraction in a gravelly soil. A method for controlling the compaction of gravelly soils is suggested. This method involves the use of a correction factor. (Author)
