A NEW CONCEPT IN THE PRODUCTION OF ORTHOPAEDIC AND AMPUTEE TRACINGS.

Abstract

A preliminary report concerning the origination and results of initial investigations of a new technic for producing working patterns used in forming and constructing orthopaedic braces and artificial limbs. The process presents two singular features. First a mechanically-produced silhouette is substituted for conventional tracing methods. Second, the pattern is produced with the patient in a near-vertical position rather than the usual horizontal-supine position. (Author)
