TWO CHARGED SPHERICAL CONDUCTORS IN A UNIFORM ELECTRIC FIELD. FORCES AND FIELD STRENGTH,

Abstract

A complete solution is presented to the electrostatic boundary value problem of two charged conducting spheres in a uniform electric field. Rapidly convergent expressions are given for the forces acting on the spheres, and for the maximum field strength between them. Numerical results are presented for a number of relative sphere sizes and separations. (Author)
