EVALUATION OF BABCOCK AND WILCOX COMPANY HORIZONTAL STEAM SEPARATORS FOR DLG-26-28, 32, 34,

Abstract

In an effort to provide better access to the steam drum's interior and improve water level control, a new design steam separator was developed. These separators are horizontal, cylindrical, volute-type, mounted in rows of ten on either side of the steam drum longitudinal center line. Evaluation of the separators was performed using the laboratory's test boiler, instrumented to provide the required data. Operation consisted of steady state runs made to investigate the separator's ability to meet the dryness requirements, and maneuvering runs to determine water level control ability. (Author)
