A SUMMARY REPORT OF THE USE OF THERMIONIC CONVERTERS IN A NATURAL CIRCULATION BOILING WATER REACTOR,
Abstract
Studies made concerning the use of thermionic converters in a natural circulation, boiling water reactor are presented. The first two phases of the study were concerned with the reactivity available with Plasma-Triode and Ball-of-Fire converters. The third phase included a nuclear parameter study of two pressure tube concepts using the Ball-of-Fire converter. The conceptual design of a 1-MW-e natural circulation thermionic reactor was developed using a pressure tube fuel element concept. (Author)
