FIRE RESISTANT HYDRAULIC FLUID FOR SUBMARINES.

Abstract

Studies to determine the relative hydrolytic stabilities of fluorine-containing phosphorus were carried out. These were followed by an intensive synthesis effort with major emphasis on fluid properties, fire-resistance, and compatibility with paints, elastomers, and conduit sheathing materials. The resulting structure/ property correlations will permit design of a fluid for submarine use. (Author)
