PHASED ARRAY STUDY.

Abstract

Research concerns an investigation of the performance of digital phase shifters using semiconductor diode switches in phased array antennas. A 10 element array will be designed and tested at S-Band. The 180-degree phase bit was designed and tested. A new circuit technique, called the transformed switch circuit, was investigated theoretically and found to be superior to the conventional method of switching line sections. The transformed switch circuit was used in the design of the shorter phase bits. Active element patterns of the 10-element array were taken for various ground plane spacings. (Author)
