EVALUATION OF ELASTIC-FRAME VEHICLE CONCEPT.

Abstract

A comprehensive test program was conducted with the objective of establishing design and performance parameters for an articulated, elastic-frame, wheeled vehicle concept. Exploratory tests were performed in the laboratory with a powered, 1/4scale model to obtain information on mobility and obstacle crossing; and tests in the field with an unpowered, towed, full-size test rig to investigate maneuverability, directional stability, stresses in the elastic frame, and ride and vibration characteristics. From these results, recommendations are made for the design of a powered, elastic-frame, vehicle test rig. (Author)
