MEETING OF IUPAC COMMISSION ON ORGANIC NOMENCLATURE, JULY 20-26, 1961 AND SYMPOSIUM ON NOMENCLATURE, JULY 27-29, 1961 HELD IN COLUMBUS, OHIO.

Abstract

The XXIst Conference of IUPAC held in Montreal in August 1961, presented a favorable opportunity for the Union's Commission on Organic Nomenclature to hold its annual meeting in the United States and thus to become more directly acquainted with the views of the very large number of organic chemists on this side of the Atlantic. To promote this exchange of views the Division of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the NAS-NRC, in collaboration with the American Chemical Society's Committee on Organic Nomenclature, arranged for the IUPAC Commission to meet in Columbus, Ohio, at the office of Chemical Abstracts Service, during the period July 20-26, and for a Symposium on Nomenclature to follow on July 27-29. This report presents a digest of the proceedings of these two fruitful meetings. (Author)
