FEEDBACK CONTROL SYSTEMS. DESIGN WITH REGARD TO SENSITIVITY,
Abstract
A definition is given for 'root sensitivity,' relating the changes in plant's parameters to corresponding changes in the system's roots. Interesting properties of root-sensitivity are shown, then applied to the derivation of a laborless graphical method for obtaining the sensitivity of a given root. Finally, a compensation design method is proposed, which not only secures a desired location for the system's dominant roots on the s-plane, but also simultaneously satisfied conditions concerning the sensitivity of these dominant roots to the varying plant parameter(s). Examples are solved using the proposed method, and the results verified with the analog computer. (Author)
