PRODUCTION AND PROPERTIES OF 5NI-CR-MO-V STEEL PLATES,

Abstract

An 80-to5, basic-electric-furnace, five-ingot heat of a 5Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel considered promising as an HY-130/150 steel was produced to provide material for evaluation of its suitability as an HY-130/150 weldment and to provide material to the Marine Engineering Laboratory for an evaluation of the effect of the addition of rare earths on the properties of a bubmarine-hull-type steel having a minimum yield strength of 140 ksi. The results of che production and properties of the 5Ni-Cr-Mo-V steel are summarized. (Author)
