COMPARATIVE STUDY OF RUNGE-KUTTA AND LANCZOS NUMERICAL INTEGRATION METHODS,

Abstract

This document presents a comparative study of the Runge-Kutta and Lanczos numerical integration methods for solving the system of ordinary differential equations associated with the Variation of Parameters formulation. Results of ephemeris computations using each method are compared with a standard to determine relative position error growth. Conclusions are drawn regarding relative merits of the two methods.
