PRELIMINARY DESIGN OF DYNAMIC-STATIC DIRECT SHEAR APPARATUS FOR SOILS AND ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHIES OF SOIL DYNAMICS AND CRATERING,

Abstract

This report contains a critical review of the literature on the dynamic testing of soils. The review was conducted prior to the design of an apparatus for dynamic direct shear tests. The specifications for the apparatus generated from this review and the preliminary design of the apparatus are presented. Included are appendixes containing annotated bibliographies (421 entries) on soil dynamics, stress-wave propagation, and nuclear and high-explosive cratering. (Author)
